Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Lyrics Grid ("we", "our", "the Service") is a free, browser-based lyrics search and AI translation tool. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

We follow the principles of data minimization. The Service does not require an account. It runs entirely in your browser, and the only data we keep is what you choose to store locally (theme, language, API key, recent translations).

2. Information we collect

a. Local-only storage

The Service runs entirely in your browser. We store your theme preference, target language, optional Gemini API key, and a rolling 24-hour list of your recent translations in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device.

b. Analytics

If the site owner has configured Google Tag Manager, anonymous usage events (page views, search counts, translation counts, export counts) are sent to Google Analytics 4. No personally identifiable information is included in these events.

c. Server logs

Cloudflare Pages (our hosting provider) records standard request metadata: IP address, user agent, and the page requested. These logs are used for security and capacity planning and are not shared with third parties.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them. We do not sell your data to any third party.

4. Cookies and localStorage

The Service does not use tracking cookies for its core functionality. We use localStorage to remember your theme, target language, optional API key, recent translations, and daily usage counter. You can clear this anytime from your browser settings or by clicking "Clear local history" in Settings.

5. Advertising (Google AdSense)

To keep Lyrics Grid free, we may display advertisements served by Google AdSense, a third-party ad network operated by Google LLC. AdSense uses cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our site and other sites on the Internet. This section explains what that means for your data.

a. Cookies used for advertising

Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DART cookie) to serve ads on our site. Google's use of the DART cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of the DART cookie by visiting Google Ads Settings.

b. Third-party ad vendors

Some ads on our site are served by third-party ad networks and their partners. These vendors may use automated technologies (cookies, web beacons, device and advertising identifiers) to collect information about your visits to this and other websites to provide advertisements about goods and services that may interest you. Information used for this purpose does not include personally identifiable information such as your name, address, email, or phone number. c. Opting out of personalized ads

You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of certain third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info (Network Advertising Initiative) or www.youronlinechoices.com (European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance).

d. EU/UK users and consent

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, advertising cookies are only set after you grant consent through the consent banner shown on your first visit. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time from the footer of any page.

6. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR, CCPA, LGPD, etc.), you have the right to access, correct, delete, or port the personal data we hold. Since we do not collect personal data beyond local browser storage and standard server logs, the simplest way to "delete" what we hold is to clear your browser's local storage and revisit the site. For data held by our advertising partners (Google), use the opt-out links in Section 5c above.

7. Data retention

Local translation history is automatically deleted after 24 hours. Theme, language, and API key preferences persist until you clear your browser storage or click "Clear local history" in Settings. Advertising cookies set by Google expire per Google's own schedule (typically 30 days to 2 years depending on the cookie).

8. Security

All traffic is served over HTTPS. Because we do not store any user data on our servers, the attack surface is limited to the third-party APIs we call (Google Gemini, Google AdSense, LRCLIB, Lyrics.ovh, iTunes, MusicBrainz, Deezer). If you discover a vulnerability, please report it via our contact form.

9. Children's privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Google AdSense also enforces age restrictions on personalized advertising. If you believe a child has used the Service, contact us and we will assist.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced on the homepage.
