Tip: try song + artist for best results (e.g. "Blinding Lights The Weeknd")

How to use Lyrics Grid

  1. Search. Type a song name or artist in the search bar. The fastest path is to combine both, for example "Blinding Lights The Weeknd".
  2. Pick a result. We return matching tracks from iTunes and LRCLIB. Songs with lyrics ready are sorted to the top.
  3. Open the lyrics. Click any card to open the full lyrics in a focused reader. Use the export menu for PDF, TXT, or Markdown.
  4. Translate. Click the sparkle icon. Choose your target language in Settings if you have not yet — Hinglish, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Arabic and 12 more are supported.
  5. Save or share. Your last 50 translations live in Recent translations. Sign in to sync them across devices.

Why use Lyrics Grid instead of other lyrics sites?

  • Real meaning, line by line. Most lyrics sites give you a translation and call it done. We add a one-line explanation of what each line actually means in context.
  • Multi-source. Genius, Musixmatch and Lyricstranslate lock you into a single database. We query three at once and fall back automatically when one is missing.
  • 17 languages including Hinglish. Most translators cap at five or six. We support Hinglish (Hindi in Roman script), Korean, Japanese, Arabic, and Vietnamese, alongside the usual European languages.
  • One-click PDF. Our PDF export auto-detects the script — Latin, Devanagari or Gurmukhi — and embeds the correct Noto font so the file renders correctly on any device.
  • Free and ad-light. No paywall, no card, no "premium tier" with a fake discount timer. Anyone gets 10 daily translations; add your own Gemini key for unlimited.

Tips for best translation results

  • Combine song name and artist for the most accurate match, especially for popular tracks with covers or remixes.
  • If a song is missing in your language, try translating to English first and then to your target language — the model often catches idioms better that way.
  • For Korean, Japanese and Chinese tracks, switch to Hinglish or English to get a faithful translation; direct translations sometimes drop honorifics.
  • Use Markdown export when you want to study the lyrics in Obsidian, Notion, or any note-taking app that renders line breaks.
  • Add your own Gemini API key in Settings to remove the daily translation limit. Free keys from Google AI Studio are enough for casual use.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Lyrics Grid.

What is Lyrics Grid?

Lyrics Grid is a free online tool that searches song lyrics from three independent sources (iTunes, LRCLIB, and Lyrics.ovh) and translates them into 17 languages with AI-generated line-by-line meaning, powered by Google Gemini 2.5 Flash.

How do I translate song lyrics with meaning?

Type the song name or artist into the search bar, pick a result from the list, then click the sparkle icon in the lyrics modal. Choose your target language and the AI returns a translation plus the meaning of every line in under 30 seconds.

Which languages are supported for translation?

Lyrics Grid currently supports 17 target languages: English, Hinglish (Hindi in Roman script), Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Dutch, Polish, Turkish, and Vietnamese.

Do I need to create an account to use Lyrics Grid?

No. You can search and translate anonymously at no cost, with a daily limit of 10 translations. Adding your own Google Gemini API key in Settings removes the limit.

Is Lyrics Grid free to use?

Yes, 100% free with no hidden fees, no premium tier, and no card required. The tool is supported by unobtrusive ads after it reaches AdSense eligibility. Everyone gets a generous 10-translation daily limit out of the box.

Where do the lyrics come from?

Lyrics are aggregated from iTunes Search API, LRCLIB, and Lyrics.ovh in parallel. If a song is missing on one source, the others fill in. All three sources are free, require no API key, and are credited in the footer.

Can I export the translated lyrics?

Yes. Click the download icon in the lyrics modal to export as PDF (with auto-detected script font for Devanagari, Gurmukhi, and Latin), plain TXT, or Markdown. The PDF includes original, translation, and meaning for every line.

How accurate is the AI translation?

Translations are generated by Google Gemini 2.5 Flash, which excels at conversational and lyrical text. Accuracy depends on the source lyric, the target language, and the song context. For best results, paste clean lyrics without HTML tags.

Is my search history saved?

Your 24-hour translation history is kept in your browser (localStorage). Nothing is sent to our servers. You can clear history anytime from Settings, and it auto-expires after 24 hours.

How do I switch between light and dark mode?

Click the theme button in the header to choose Light, Dark, or System. System mode follows your operating system preference. The choice is remembered on this device and applies instantly without a page reload.
